Lokal (German for “local”) Eatery & Bar is a culinary celebration of Jersey City’s rich cultural diversity and fresh regional flavors. Rooted in the concept of immigrants as new locals, our restaurant offers an inviting approach to fine dining that Jerseyans can enjoy without a trip across the Hudson1.

A Locally Sourced, Globally Inspired Menu
At Lokal, ingredients take center stage. We select locally sourced, seasonal produce, ensuring every dish supports nearby communities. The result is a globally inspired New American menu that reflects our city’s cultural melting pot.
Our food and drink menus blend familiar flavors with techniques and ingredients from around the globe. Inspiration ranges from the Japanese tempura-battered rock shrimp and chorizo with onsen egg to the Mediterranean lamb burger and papas bravas. Drinks include local beers and spirits and imported recipes like the Allen Katz and lychee martini.
Our Location & Atmosphere
Lokal provides breathtaking views of the Manhattan skyline from the Jersey City waterfront. Designed by Abraham John Architects, the 6,000-square-foot space includes indoor and seasonal outdoor seating, including cozy lounge areas and a patio overlooking the river.
Floor-to-ceiling windows, contemporary design, and warm lighting create a refined and comfortable atmosphere. Every seat is angled toward the view, making both casual dinners and date nights feel like special occasions.
